bottle of sparkling water
two crystal glasses
wand
sugar cube
plate
handkerchief
crystal pendulum
audio device for recording and playback
Before the participant arrives, open the handkerchief on the table and place the crystal pendulum at its center. Fold over the handkerchief diagonally three times to conceal the pendulum. Arrange the bottle of sparkling water, two crystal glasses, wand, plate, folded handkerchief and crystal pendulum, and audio device on the table. Lastly, hide the sugar cube in your left hip pocket; it will be revealed later.
When the participant arrives, together consider the space you are in, its qualities and limits.
Pick up the two crystal glasses from the table and place them on the ground upright in front of the participant, shoulder width apart. Pass the bottle of water to him or her and make the following request, "At the moment you feel your back crack, open the bottle and allow the water to pour into the crystal glasses below."
Wrap your arms around the participant from behind, cradling their elbows in your forearms; Squeeze, lift and lean back, rocking their spine against your torso and their feet off the ground.
When you hear the back crack, return the participant to the ground and step aside as the water is poured equally into each of the two crystal glasses below.
Once the bottle is empty and the crystal glasses are full, place one crystal glass back on the table and begin recording with the audio device. Return to the other glass, dip your finger into the water and circle the rim of the glass; allow the sound to fill the room. Place the glass of water and the empty bottle back on the table, then end the recording.
Take the wand from the table in your right hand. Use the wand to trace and understand the participant's body.
Move slowly and deliberately; pay attention to the body's feedback. During this process, secretly palm the sugar cube in the left hand from the left hip pocket. Allow the left hand to hang naturally at your side.
Once the tracing is complete, break the wand's contact from the body and carry out the wand-spin as pictured. As the wand approaches its final position over the left hand, turn the left hand palm-up to reveal the sugar-cube. The effect should appear as if the wand has collected and releases the sugar.
Return the wand to the table and place the sugar cube on the plate. Next, crush the sugar cube into a pile of crystals.
Unfold the handkerchief three times diagonally to reveal the crystal pendulum. Ask the participant to hold the pendulum by the chain and concentrate on the following question,
"if the pendulum swings clockwise the answer is yes, counter-clockwise, no. Do you want the performance to continue?"
Once the answer is determined using the pendulum, act accordingly - either stop the performance or continue. To continue, take the pendulum by the chain and return to the table.
Rinse the crystal pendant in the crystal glass of water that was used to fill the room with sound and dry it with the handkerchief from which it came, draping the handkerchief over the used glass when you are finished.
Dip the crystal in the second glass of water and lay the crystal in the crushed sugar so that sugar-crystals attach to the pendulum.
Play back the audio recording.
Pick-up the pendulum and approach the participant face to face; raise your arm and let the pendulum swing between you at eye level. Continue for an extended period of time.
Hold the chain to the participant's forehead; allow the crystal to roll along their lips, leaving a trace of sugar.
Take away the pendant and place it back on the plate.
Stop playback of the audio recording and offer the second glass of water to drink.
